Circle of Friends

By engraving a name in the Circle of Friends, your own, that of someone you honor or love, or someone you loved and miss, you not only remember, you tell the world that this global tragedy must never be forgotten and that everyone lost to AIDS will be eternally remembered. Moreover, your contribution will help maintain the Grove’s health and beauty in perpetuity.

“Rob was my brother and best friend. I had been struggling this past year to find something as special as he was to remember and honor him. The Circle of Friends came along at just the right time.” – Judy

If you have been searching for a way to remember or honor someone, the Circle of Friends might be the answer. This is is how we can celebrate the lives of the special souls of our time.

The Circle of Friends is set near the eastern entrance of the Grove, surrounded by redwood trees and flowering dogwoods. It is a place of remembrance, and like the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Circle of Friends offers a testament to the individual lives touched by history, making permanent a personal message of loss and love. Gifts of any amount are always appreciated.

How To Participate
You may download the donation form and print it if you wish to send it with your gift.

A name inscription is provided in exchange for completion of payment on a $1,000 commitment.

Pledges are payable with as little as $50 per month over 20 months. Several donors may pool funds to inscribe a single name.

How the Names Appear
Each name is carved in flagstone in 1.25 inch-high letters. The names are carved in simple script, and flow across the flagstone in concentric circles.

Although names of individuals are accepted for this Circle, naming opportunities are available for non-profits, businesses, and professional entities in the Crescents of Healing, Hope, and Remembrance. The Grove reserves the right to refuse inappropriate requests.

Each single inscription is allotted 20 characters (including spaces and punctuation). Two or more separately funded names may be connected by an ampersand (&) if requested.

For more information, please e-mail or call 415-756-0497.

Help preserve this place of healing, hope and remembrance. Inscribe a name in the Circle of Friends.
